The Dance Bag opened in August of 1994, the dance community was growing here in Modesto and the need for a dance supply store was increasing. Many dancers were traveling to the bay area monthly to find dancewear especially pointe shoes. Our intial goal was to be able to provide Modesto with proper dance wear without traveling, Little did we know the impact our little store would have on the dance community.
Our doors opened August 15, 1994 stocking only the essentials. By the start of 1998 plans were drawn up to expand into the suite next door doubling our inventory. Soon after, in 2000, we increased our back room size to accommodate the growing needs of the community. In 2016, 23 years later, we’ve upgraded again, moving into McHenry Village.
Our new 2,200 square foot store features a larger shoe fitting area, three dressing rooms, and big front windows, to maintain our well-known window displays.
The Dance Bag wouldn’t be here if not for our community support. We are forever thankful that you chose to shop local. We are excited to be celebrating our 30th year of business!
